While St Samuel’s exhibits many features of the traditional English public school, our uniquely robust approach to such issues as students’ health and disciplinary issues continues to win the respect of educationalists worldwide.
Many St. Samuel’s students come to us after failing to achieve their full academic potential in other schools. In such cases we are often able to identify a boy’s asocial - or even anti-social - attitudes and outlook on life as the primary cause of the problem.
As a result, St. Samuel’s puts strong emphasis on nurturing and developing our students’ interpersonal and social skills.
We encourage all our boys to develop warm and close relationships - both with our staff and with each other.
We are especially proud of our policy of housing our students in shared accommodation. That, we believe, encourages them not only in positive social interaction, but also in developing skills of friendship and intimacy, and we monitor their progress in those areas constantly and extremely closely.
Those few boys who fail to respond to the opportunities provided for interpersonal development are offered special in-depth counselling by our skilled and experienced tutors, although it may sometimes be necessary to invoke our disciplinary procedures to correct unacceptable behaviour
